- 2 tablespoons cooking oil of your choice
- 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 pound hot Italian sausage, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
- 3/4 cup dehydrated sliced okra
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1/2 cup dehydrated chopped green bell peppers
- 1/2 cup dehydrated chopped onions
- 1/4 cup dehydrated chopped celery
- 2 tablespoons dehydrated chile peppers, crumbled
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 5 cups water
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 4 cups cooked rice for serving
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the chicken and sausage and sear on all sides until nicely browned. Transfer to a 6- quart slow cooker.
- Add the remaining ingredients except the rice to the slow cooker, stir to combine, and cover. Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
- Serve ladled over hot rice.
