- 4 cups water
- 1 cup beef jerky pieces
- 1 cup dehydrated tomato slices
- 1 cup dehydrated potato slices
- 1 tablespoon dehydrated onion pieces
- 1 tablespoon dehydrated bell pepper pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup dried carrot
- 1 cup dehydrated cooked short-grain rice
- Add 3 cups of water to a large saucepan. Add the beef, tomato, potato, onion, bell pepper, basil, garlic and oregano. Let sit for about 30 minutes to rehydrate.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Add the carrot, season with salt and pepper then let simmer for 1 hour, or until beef jerky is tender.
- In another saucepan, combine rice with 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil then remove from heat, cover and allow to rehydrate for 15 minutes. Return to boil and let simmer, partially covered for about 15 to 30 minutes, or until rice is tender.
- Serve beef stew over the cooked rice.
